Sugizo confirmed guitarist in The Yoshiki-Gackt Project [Updated thread]

While this is NOT confirmed news, I felt that it was reputable enough for me to go ahead and post it here.

Heath from X-Japan, in recent fanclub newsletters, has confirmed that former X-Japan members have been in talk with Sugizo about a possible "revival" Budoukan concert commemorating X-Japan, with Sugizo filling in hide's position. Conjectures by fans have been made about the Yoshiki-Gackt project; Toshi's status in terms of his stance with the music industry has lead many to believe that Gackt might possibly be filling in for Toshi, which will make the lineup as follows:

Gackt - Vocals (possibly piano?)
SUGIZO - Guitar
Pata - Guitar
Heath - Bass
Yoshiki - Drums/Piano

While this does NOT come from a news site and none of this is confirmed seeing as it is NOT on SUGIZO.com or anywhere else, considering the fact that it comes from Heath's fanclub newsletter that he personally writes, I believe this is valid information that should be shared.

This is what we know to be absolutely true though: they're in talks about it, at the moment.

Might be true, but even if Sugizo is recording, I bet he can still make time for one show.

Oh this will be interesting. Is this just his opinion tho that he wants to do this 'n such or like, is it already planned?

That's true, but even Sugizo would need some time to learn all the solos he would need to play X-Japan. Since he would have to play with Pata, it wouldn't leave much room for him to improvise as much as he normally does. It would be cool if he did both though.

Just to let you know, it's not that difficult to learn X solos as you might think it is; keep in mind, back in 1992 Sugizo only had ONE day to learn the X solo before the Extasy Summit. He originally wasn't supposed to even do the show, but because hide personally begged him, he went ahead and learned it. It's not that hard to learn solos, especially with someone like Sugizo who has been playing guitar for over twenty years now.

Another thing is, not only did Sugizo learn the solos, he actually played BOTH hide and Pata's parts at one point or another -- which is INCREDIBLY challenging.

Sugizo's ability shouldn't be underestimated. :P

I guess they booked Nihon Budokan already for Febuary 11th

it'd be a waste if they didn't, even if Sugizo and Gackt were not chosen for the role.
